Functioning of a Free Economic Zone in the Republic of Crimea as a Driver of Socio-Economic Development of the Region

The article considers the problem of socio-economic development of the territories of the Russian Federation. The main problem is the uneven development of the regions of Russia. To address this issue, it is necessary to create a favorable investment and innovation environment. Institutions integrating the attracted investment resources into the regional economy should become the reagent of the spatial development of the Russian economy. As an example of a tool for the development of the region, an analysis was conducted of the organization and functioning of the free economic zone (FEZ) of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol. The authors examined the dynamics of the development of the FEZ, noted the strengths and weaknesses, and also noted the key prospects for the development of the FEZ.
